Biography

Maria di Leo is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Antonino and Giuseppa di Leo. Based on her reported age in the 1766 stato delle anime, Maria is born around 1715.

Maria marries Angelo Ligotino on 7 January 1738. Her parents are both living.^[1]

Maria and Angelo They have at least six children: Gaspare (1738), Francesca (c. 1740), Giuseppa (c. 1747), Santa (c. 1754), Gaetano (c. 1756), and Antonino (c. 1762).

Francesca is born around 1734, based on her reported age at death.

Gaspare Francesco Antonino Santo is born 31 October 1738 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Stefano and Beatriz Genco, a married couple.

Francesca is born around 1734, based on her reported age at death. I estimate she is born around 1740, a couple years after her parents marry and her brother (whose baptismal record has been found) is born.

In 1744, Maria's sister, Francesca, marries Angelo's brother, Antonino.

The family appears between [the hospital and the vanella di Paolo Palazzo in the 1766 census: Angelo Ligotino, 59 (b. 1707), his wife Maria, 51 (b. 1715), and children Rev. Sac. Don Gaspare, 29 (b. 31 Oct 1738), Giuseppa, 19 (b. 1747), Santa, 12 (b. 1754), Gaetano, 10 (b. 1756), and Antonino, 4 (b. 1762).

Giuseppa marries Matteo Salemi on 9 June 1771. Angelo and Maria have both died by this time.

Santa marries Maestro Giovanni Battista Rizzotto on 19 July 1777.

Giuseppa dies at age 42 (b. 1747) on 8 August 1789, the widow of Matteo.^[2]

Antonino marries Grazia Badulato on 8 February 1790.

Don Antonino dies, reportedly at age 38 (he is about 42 years old) on 15 March 1804. His wife, Donna Grazia, survives him.

Francesca dies at age 73 (b. 1734) on 13 June 1807. Her husband survives her.

The Reverend Priest Don Gaspare, I.J.Dr., dies at age 69 on 12 April 1808.

Santa is Giovanni Battista's widow at her death on 14 April 1820, reportedly at age 60 (b. 1760).
